Club's Treasure Hunt Upstaged

The South Florida Treasure Hunting Club held its annual picnic last Sunday at a local beach. As is customary at these affairs, they held a metal detecting treasure hunt. The club salted half a dozen rolls of old coins, and a bunch of tokens for prizes, in a small area of the beach about 20x30 yards. The participating club members, about 25 persons, used their own detectors during the 20 minute hunt to locate as many of the old coins and tokens as they could. Normally, all or nearly all the tokens, and most of the coins get found.

After the hunt, we found out that one of the gals had scooped up a white gold and diamond ring! It was definitely not planted by the club. She was using an Ace 250.

It's like I always say...there's gold everywhere.

That is a nice bonus especially if she had also found a prize token or two! I was at a paid hunt held at the Rogue River Park in southern Oregon when one of the participants found a nickel 3 cent piece that was not planted, I guess you never know what might come up! Good Luck!
