Coal or Jet Stone????? Please help

Found on beach in south Florida, large and light weight. Streaks brown on white paper. Very curious as to what this is, anything helps!

I was going to say bitumenous coal, but the streak should be black, not sure if it makes a difference if the streak is on paper or porcelain. Someone else might know.

Jet does leave a dark brown streak.Jet is also porous,put a drop of water on it see if it soaks in.You can also touch a red hot needle to it and see if it smokes.
