Just picked up another box of halves today. Supplied by Brinks. Flat N.F. String & Sons box (like all my Brinks boxes around here). Stamped with code 5204. My last few boxes (which have been decent) had no code. I know, I know, the codes don't mean anything, but was curious if anyone else here has picked up boxes stamped with 5204 recently and, if so, where you are. Last time I had a box with a code I hadn't seen before it seemed like the box came from outside the area (had marks and some stickers on coins I hadn't seen before).

codes vary depending on location, what state are you in?[/QUOTE
I don't think they mean anything. I think they are for the coin carriers purpose. I have had codes like 0000, 1125,6250, 5711, 6211, 2650....and the list could go on and on. There is no pattern to them at all, and I order from the same bank .

I agree the codes don't mean much in terms of what you will find in the box, just was curious whether anyone had seen this code since I had not seen it before. I am in the DC area.

Anyway, the box had a skunky feel to it at first but ended up being above-average:

- 2 90%s (a '35 Walker and '49s Ben, each of which I needed for my halves books).
- 5 40%s
- 2 NIFCs (2002p and 2011p)
- 1 1992s clad proof

So, I'm happy to take more of that code.

CODE 5204
RESERVED FOR USE OF HALF AND QUARTER BOXES ONLY
This code indicates successful sorting of coins, and full count is
The modern composition of the HALF DOLLAR and QUARTER respectively, is all that will be found within the box
§Discussion of code 5204 is illegal to Brinks policy and will result in termination of employment

In all seriousness, the codes don't have a meaning aside from date association, which is sometimes coded.
