My friend Ricky (a.k.a "House" if he ever decides to post on here) and I are stationed at Holloman AFB, New Mexico. They are doing a big on-base housing renovation project and are going to tear down several old housing units built back in the 50's and 60's. As the families move out, we have been moving in with our detectors. Today as it was getting dark, I hit a quarter signal and a silver ring popped out!! After I cleaned it up, turns out it was a silver coin made into a ring. Ironic thing is that we were looking on the internet Friday afternoon to how these were made. I am going to start surfing the net on now on solid gold diamond rings and see what pops out next ;D

Nice find! I made one once out of a 1970 fifty cent piece then lost it off a dock in 1976 :-\

From what I can tell from looking under a magnifying glass, it is (or used to be) a silver Kennedy half dollar. You can see the circle of stars that are on the back of a half dollar on the inside band and part of "In God We Trust". Most of the rings I have seen like this you can see much more of the details inside the band if done properly, but they are not too good on this one......happy I found a silver ring, but kinda bummed it's not a silver Kennedy half :-\

Just let me know when you are done researching the gold rings. Doesn't matter if they have diamonds but it is a plus! :o The ring cleaned up nice. You now have mastered the Ace 250! LOL All, he also found a 1950 5 Pfenning. It's amazing how many foreign coins we find.

Very nice looking ring, WTG!!!
I haven't seen any of the coin rings end up so fat, nice... Also,,, not a bad idea about surfing the web looking at gold. I have done the same thing here on TNet many of times. Come here and look at something, then go out and find almost the same exact thing. ??? ;D
Continued Good luck, & Happy hunting~
