Yesterday I hit a low tide beach on the North Shore of Long Island with the ExCal II. Found a quarter, dime, and so many pennies that I didn't even bother picking them up after awhile.
About the time the temperature reached 88 degrees I decided to folded up the ExCal and just look around a bit. Covered alot of ground and eventually sighted some bags and debris scattered along the high tide mark. Well long story short I looked through all the debris and it turned out all the stuff was religious knickknacks. Some of it was pretty cool looking - things Indiana Jones would expect to find on one of his adventures.

The coolest thing in the lot was a miniature silver elephant trinket which I think is an incense holder. I acid tested the base a few minutes ago and confirmed it is a very high purity silver, at least 90%. About 9.2 grams! So cool! 8-)

Some of the finds, including the silver elephant statue:

These bags of trinkets were scattered up and down the shoreline:

I think that your "elephant" is actually the Hindu god Ganesh... as the other finds appear to be Hindu religious items too. GL&HH!

Ganesh Chaturthi is traditionally celebrated near water, as images of Ganesh are immersed as part of the worship. Your items are offerings.

I agree, if they want to appease their gods they should be tossing more gold into the ocean.
What happened to the good old days when people obediently appeased their gods with offerings of gold, like the treasure of Padmanabhaswamy Temple. The billions of dollars in gold stashed away in that temple is all the result of people just dropping it into the coffers for the last 5 centuries. :D

Unique beach find! Silver is silver! Congrats!

Ya they need to step it up a tad on that lost gold, how are we supposed to find it if they're not losing it?
A little cooperation John Q. Public!

It's good luck for sure.
Ganesha is revered as the remover of obstacles and is a patron of art, science, intellect, and wisdom.
(I did a little research on him just now). :laughing7:

Very cool finds! Do you mind me asking what north shore beach went to? I usually hunt the south shore and I have found some Hindu offerings as well, but not bags of stuff like that

There is no permanent beach, the area is normally underwater except on low tides when the receding water exposes the sand for a few hours.
It's an area of shoreline on Flushing Bay. Feel free to visit. There's a nice old abandoned marina with sunken boats.

Flushing Bay Promenade,
