collecting sets

Collecting sets adds to the enjoyment. I just found a 2007D Kennedy for my set, I'm still waiting for the 1970D. Get a Witman folder and fill it with the best coins you can find

I got a dansco and Love it.
Only a few holes left to fill!
Mostly modern silver proofs (hard to find) and strange enough, I have yet to find the following
99P
96P
91P
84P
81P
And a few odd proofs.
So whats up with the lack of nice Ps in my area? I have found some but they are so nasty I wouldn't want to contaminate my folder. LOL

Still really slow on the silver here. At least I found 4 silver dimes One was a merc! and 4 lousy 40s.

I have 2 Dansco albums I'm working on, one with proofs and one without. I only need a 2006-D to complete the no proof set, all found in rolls and bags. I've also completed a set of Jefferson nickels and Roosevelt dimes. Most of the silver dimes were not found in rolls.

I just filled my first whitman folder, the lst coin to go in was the 1970D ;D

You bet I make sets TMH. Here's what I've done in 20+ years of roll and casino hunting -

- Six complete penny Whitman albums (volume 2, 1941-1975). The "penny book" listed in my signature is #7

- Three complete Jeff. nickel Whitman albums (vol. 1, 1938-1961) and I'm three coins away from finishing a 4th.

- Complete Kennedy series (non-proof, that is) except for 2006-D, 2007-P, 2007-D.

- All proof Kennedys from the 1970s except for the 70-S, and a good deal of the 80s & 90s.

I been working on my Dansco Kennedy book- haven't found anything new to add to it for awhile, guess I got all the easy ones haha. Just need some clad proofs and all the silver proofs but one. I did make myself a rule that "I" would have to find the coins to go in it, no tradin or buying so I can see some slow goin.
Them dimes are a killer ain't they Dave, I set a bank up for 4 boxes a week and cancelled that order pronto- lot of dime work for a silver or 2 a box. HH Mark
BTW is it dredge season yet LOL?

I have been through about $30,000 in halves so far ans I have yet to see any from 1970 or 1987. They are all I need to fill my folder. Of course they are the hardest as they were only issued in mint sets. I'm still searching tho.

I just started in Nov and filled six books for the Kennedy's and Ikes. I am working on the Franklins. I have filled the dimes, nickles and quarter books. I am trying to get at least two books of everything to leave to my kids who will probably just sell them as soon as I am gone. LOL

Yeah I am doing ok on dimes, Anywhere from 0 to 4 a box, average is 1 to 2 but its something
I finally got some more parts for my dredge! its almost ready!.

I have books for halves (Franklin's and both sets of the Kennedy's).....dimes (Mercs & Rosies).....cents & nickels which I have hardly touched yet....I feel guilty not paying too much attention to the nickels....ha!

Collection books are fun. It can drive you crazy when you get down to a few coins to complete it....lol.

All I need for the Franklin book is the 48.....thanks to some wheeling & dealing with a few members in here..... ;).

LOL so you got a 53???? Ok now I can stop looking for it and just look for the 48. Today I found several Benny's and several Walkers but not the two dates you needed.

Yes Cat I sure did....a member and I swapped some coins and out popped a 53!!!! Imagine that huh....lol. I'm not going to mention his name but Jim is such a sweetie....oppps! A very kind man!!

Keep your eye out for that 48.....that son of a gun just won't show himself......maybe he is just shy......ha!

I got MEself a Dansco Franklin Half Dollar book today to put my nice ones in and see ifn I can find the whole set. As it stands I need 13 to finish it, would have only needed 12 but....... Anyways my Kennedy book has been at a standstill, and the Franklin book with only 2 pages was only $20 sos I bought it.
HH all, Mark

I decided long ago that I was going to do a roll set, or in other words a roll of each date/mintmark/common variety.

pennies...50 of each
nickels...40 of each
dimes...50 of each
quarters...40 of each
halves...20 of each
dollars...20 or 25 of each (still haven't really decided how many is in a roll as the small dollar tubes hold 20 and the large dollar tubes hold 25, but the small dollars come in 25 coin rolls from the bank...)

And in addition to the above, 1 for each hole in a book that I decide to fill, 1 of each proof and NIFC coin (some NIFC coins I have rolls of), and 1 of each error coin that I try to find.

Oh and since I find so much Canadian change I started to do the same for Canadian coinage.

As I am "temporarily caught up in my searching, last night I finally got around to starting to integrate some of my recent finds into my collection again.
So far I only updated nickels. I am up to 92.363% complete on my goal for the Jefferson series (1938-present). Of the 6547 originally needed I only 500 more nickels to go not counting proofs or errors.

Still Needed (# needed)
1938-D (33), 1938-S (40),
1939-D (38), 1939-S (34),
1941-S Large S (25),
1942-D (18),
1942-P Silver (24), 1942-S Silver (20),
1943-D Silver (35),
1944-P Silver (5), 1944-D Silver (27), 1944-S Silver (32),
1945-P Silver (3), 1945-D Silver (22), 1945-S Silver (6),
1948-S (3),
1949-S (20),
1950 (23), 1950-D (40),
1951-S (23),
1955 (22)

Of course it also means I typically only find 1 to 2 nickels per $200 that I still don't have a roll of, if that.

One of these days I need to update pennies (only have a few thousand of those to integrate.. :P)
