Weekend hunts at a couple of old farmhouses. My best find, I think, is this buckle. The style is similar to one on Whitehead dated 1660-1720. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491849995.212665.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491850005.872336.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491850014.550334.jpg

Also found my first skeleton key! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491850349.840356.jpg

Coincidentally followed by a skull ring marked sterling...

Also a mystery item. Found this outside of an 1800: barn that had horses. Near where i found a strap buckle with similar fancy last year. Any thoughts? Something to do with a saddle bag? Another mystery item! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491850559.725679.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491850569.198520.jpg

Finally, a crotal bell that still rings! Pocket watch innards. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491850614.381981.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491850630.397768.jpg

All in all a fun weekend. Thanks for looking!

If the buckle was old, it would look old... little or not plating would be left on it.

The skeleton key is the real deal! And a sterling ring. Well done sir.

That mystery item has a snakeskin print, and apples on it... I bet has something to do with the garden of Eden.

Cool finds. Pretty sure thing is a hanger, for use on a mantle etc. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491875403.733381.jpg

This isn't the best pic for an example, but the best I could come up with quickly. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1491875469.985046.jpg

Nice group of items. I'm still waiting for my first skeleton key. But if that was followed by a skull ring, all of my scientific-rationale perspective would come second to a healthy fear of spooky coincidence.

Incidentally, nice thinking Carolina Tom. Hope that can lead to a firm ID.

For real??? I was a little concerned on its material but once cleaned it has a copperyness to it. I wouldnt be shocked if it was fake...

It's fake in terms of being a functional buckle. ie. Its a fake ladies Hat Buckle or hair piece etc... (or shoe buckle)

Good story and Pics!
Good detail in that buckle! A skeleton key, then a ring with a skull! Good stuff!
