Colonial cufflink with creature on it

We were hunting a with mainly colonial items and this popped up. Looks like a dog body with a bird head with horns or something. Any Ideas

Probably intended to be a fox like the one on the Tallio cuffllinks. See the cufflink in the upper left corner for something similar.

since it appears to be a dog body with a bird head, it makes you wonder if the intent was whimsical. could be a bird dog, could be a fox. all I know is that I like it a lot

I instantly thought it was a fox. A sporting motif. Sounds like you found a good location to metal detect.
