Well, my wife's been asking for a while if we can get out to her daddy's for a weekend visit. When she asked to go on Easter weekend I said "I'd love to, mind if me and Ifoundit get out there on Saturday and do some detectin?" As soon as she obliged, I started to prep the hunt. We both picked a few spots and as a back up I lined up my in laws neighbors house, a 1700s beauty. After knocking at a few places and getting no answer or a "some other guy has exclusive permission" line, we fell back on the colonial.

The big green (bent) is a nice flat button

LC. Unk date.

Key looks colonial. Notice the "BF" inscribed
Could large plate in middle be 1812 breastplate? Looks like a drum sort of. (Wishful thinking. I believe iron patch and the other boys got to the bottom of it on "what us it")

Nice point and what looks like Native American pottery

Neat naval torpedo station broach (has pin on back) is real cool.

I think I'll turn the brass hooks into perches on a few bird houses.

Any way to date those bridle rosettes? I like em

Thanks for looking and sharing your thoughts!

Nice. Maybe someone will chime in on the large piece. If not, post it in the what is it? section.

The oval horse brass is 19th C.

The headlines are you have a buckle that dates from 1550-1650 & a pot leg/foot which is 17th C. They stopped making them after that, see a similar vessel foot:

WOW, THANKS FOR SHARING CRUSADER! That's amazing. (I'm very excited, telling my friends at work. They pretend to care, but clearly don't. Some people just don't get it!!)

After exhaustive research, I have concluded that the key must be none other than Ben Franklin's due to the BF initials. Is this the one he flew with his kite in the sky???!
