I wanted to start a thread on Colonial shoe buckle chapes. If you found them, post them on this thread. I only want chapes though. I do have a fascination with them, so it will be fun to see the different types.

Here are mine from the past two years. They were dug on different sites that were known for producing Colonial coins and relics.

can do. from a yard that produced well over ten coppers this year. i kinda like it...

Hey guys here are mine from the last 10 months..
Notice the oval 1 it must of been a womens or a childs..
I find these interesting they remind me of midevil objects.

Looks like you are hunting some good colonial sites. What else have you been finding? The oval one is a mans knee buckle.
 

Hey thanks for the info.Im trying to picture a colonial mans kneebuckle.
Im going to have to search the net for some pics.
Now what did a knee buckle actually buckle?The top of a boot or something to the knee?
