The "thing" at the top of the photo seems to be a lead cased epoxy tube and from my quick research may be from the 40's. The word on the cap is "DEVOE" and the stamped letters around the collar are "Devoe & Raynolds" Here is a closer look. Anyone ever seen one before or have any thoughts?
Actually it was a bluff overlooking the Hudson River (NY)...and I dropped to the base...along the rise, still on the river side very wooded....the coins were from up top....the bullets below.
