Confederate Navy Officers button (CSN) & The bloody Scarificator!!!

I scored a few pretty neat finds the last couple of days folks.
The first one is an early 1800's bloodletting tool called a "Scarificator", with emphasis on the "SCAR" part. Please check it out on my "what is it" post:
http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,217365.0.html

Yesterday I finished up the yard where I had found the 1864 double die IH about a week ago. Well, I was on my last section of the back yard and about ready to call it quits, when I dug a button. I threw it in my pouch and headed for home. Today at lunch I took it out, rinsed it and saw the letters "CSN" and a large anchor. I got home and cleaned it up using Buckles button cleaning technique with a dry toothpick on the back and some Naval Jelly (seemed fitting too :tongue3: ) on the front. As you can see she is a BEAUTY!!! It has almost all of the gold gilt still on it too.
It is a 23mm two piece w/shank. The back mark has "Firmin & Sons , 153 Strand London , & 13 Conduit St."
It is listed in Albert's book as #CS52A. I believe it is mid 1800's, but please correct me if I am wrong. :icon_scratch:
Any idea of the value of this button?
I think this is my best button find so far.

Other finds were:

*A small decorative locket.

*Broken earring (yes, I broke it!)

*#29 Matchbox firetruck. Any idea on the year?

*A very hilarious dog vaccine tag with " UNSEXED - Female Dog - Virg... " (Virgin or Virginia??? :icon_scratch: )
I'll hold my comments on this one. :tongue3: :icon_jokercolor:

Thanks for looking,
MM

Nice! I wouldn't part with that one. Money goes way too fast and years down the road all you'll have is a T-net post. :D

Very well said IP.
I'm keeping this baby! You're right about money going fast, just ask my teen daughter. :'( :tongue3:

Great to hear! I have sold some stuff, but kept basically all my quality finds and very glad I did. Those that I've sold is what has taught me the lesson on the money going fast then having neither. Having said that, for some selling it might be the right and I wouldn't argue with that.

I once sold a deco looking 1930's 18k white gold and 6 diamond ring I dug. I've regretted it ever since. I probably spent the money on a few sushi dinners and it was gone. :'(
Thanks IP.
My great grandfather was a taxidermist and a big collector. He built his own small museum about 12 x 16 if I recall, and shingled the roof with tin cans that he flattened and nailed down. He had an old gun collection (about 100 pcs) worth $100's of thousands today, coins, stamps, bird eggs, handmade ships, mounted animals (some extinct now). He was a very interesting guy from what I remember. I think I have his blood in me now.

CONGATULATIONS on the banner, other stuff is nice too. The naval jelly that MM used was probably Aluminum jelly. I don't think it is the same acid, if so, it is more diluted? I cannot find aluminum jelly anywhere locally. I see it online, and NO, ACE or ACO does not carry it. All I can find is the rust removal jelly. Anyone know for sure what chain stores carry it?.........NGE

I just seen your button on the banner what a find. They say it only takes one good find
to pay for your machine. I think you've out done that, and then some.
