It's been a while since I have posted my finds with the Etrac. Here in Idaho a couple of days ago, the construction guys were digging up an old sewer line for maintenance by the river. My gut says "go check that out so I did.! To make a long story short, I first found a broken glass that dated Nov 30th 1858. I knew I was on to an old site. I came by after they were finished. I started finding really old bottles from the 1860s to the 1880s. I then broke out the Etrac and ended up finding a really rough shaped 1876 seated dime. Yes,!!!!! I came back the next day while the guys were working and proceeded to get the ok to scrounge for more stuff. See some of the photos. The Etrac pulled a solid sterling 12/47 belt buckle out of this pile. It was badly encrusted so I used CLR and it came out great! I cant find out just how? Or what it is used for? Any suggestions? Furthermore, I made this antique box in my metalsmithing class earlier this semester and stuffed it with some of the things I have found. The Indian Wars button was something I found in a pile of buttons for $3 at an antique store. Anyway, Pretty cool. I lost my father three days ago for christmas, the sad part is he doesn't even know I metal detect! Peace to all! See photos.

Fantastic finds, love the "hair grower" bottle. Pretty neat how the old Lea & Perrins bottles looked, huh? Simply adore your antique box and the displays.

Nice finds! I like the sterling silver buckle. I gave one of those 7 Sutherland Sister's Hair Grower bottles to a hair dresser friend of mine recently. The piece of glass with the Nov 30 1858 date is from a Mason jar. Their jars had that date on them for years.

Nice finds and sorry to hear about your father, so sad. The Sutherland sisters hair grower in an interesting bottle and I am surprised it is that far West. The Sutherland sisters were, 7 girls who let their hair grow till it was almost floor length and were then used as examples for the power of the hair growing solution. They lived about 10 or 12 miles East, down the road from where I live in Lewiston, NY. Their house is still there, and my buddy Bruce Sutherland is related to them. Small world!
