Here's another "would you tell anybody" scenario. We've seen this type of situation discussed to death on TNet and here's another prime example.
One thing I never thought of nor have I seen anyone else mention is the value of the good publicity if you returned the whole find. In this case $700 was found and returned. Certainly in my community that was the best $700 worth of advertising that company ever spent.
As this debate always points out, it really comes down to the individual and their personal beliefs on the matter. What if it had been $7000?
