Great post Gypsy  and cool pics.

We have spent time exploring that area and never knew about Conway. Stages from Bodie might also have gone through there as Bodie and Aurora are only about 16 air miles apart.

FYI. From Carson City travel So. on 395 to 208. Go east to Wellington and Smith, then South on 338. Easier and shorter drive.
From the south 395 to Bridgeport then North on 182 Ca/338 Nv.

Thanks for posting about an area near me. Greatly appreciated!

I heard a story about the Conway Stage stop. It seems that an ore wagon was robbed nearby. One of the mules broke its leg and the gold ore that he was carrying was buried. They never went back to get it. It seems it was buried 1 ½ feet deep 4 and ½ paces east of a crack in a large rock. These are the coord I have for it….38 26.409N 119 7.064W….Art

Hey Hemisteve…After you drop into the Wellington 208 makes a 90 degree turn to the Left. If you go straight there you will come out on 338. Saves 5 or 6 miles. I think it is called the Wellington Cut-off.,,Art

I believe the pictures here are from my web site, forgottennevada.org. THe house is apparently no longer there, probably torn down by the U.S. Forest Service, since they like to do that kind of thing.
