So a buddy from work and I decided to meet up and hunt one of my local spots today. This place has been occupied daily ever since the civil war. It was a calvary camp during the civil war, a Spanish american war camp, a fairgrounds, and now a city park. I've found some awesome pieces of history here. I wanted to share three things that I found here today to maybe see what you guys might think of them. My guess would be maybe something used as a template for printing. I believe the one of these is a battery tag of some sort. I see the word battery and the date 1913 on it. What do you all think? 20180929_180524.jpg 20180929_180534.jpg 20180929_180554.jpg

Nice, I see the font is mirrored indicating it was used for printing of some sort, and I see "RATION" on the one piece, possible indication of WWII era. Great finds, great location! Ddf.

Thank you! I believe it actually says battery corporation right there. It's very hard to read in some spots. If you look right above where you were talking about it had three dates. All of them are from 1911 to 1913. All of these items are made out of lead as well. Super fragile.

The one pic looks like a serial number plate.
It is being held reversed in the photo . Too hard /lazy to read it backwards.

Might tell make ,model ,r.p.m.'s.

I agree that the first two pics are likely printing plates. They were made of lead fastened to wooden blocks. It is incidental that #1 depicts the pile driver contest. you know, "ring the bell and get ceeeegar". If not lead then perhaps some kind of a carnival prize.

Here's an enhanced pic of the battery nomenclature plate.

Neat finds, keep on swingin!

That enhanced picture is awesome! Thank you so much. I was wondering what the deal with the plate of the man with the hammer was. I know this place was once a fairgrounds so that makes a lot of sense.

I assume you mean cavalry camp.....as in an army on horseback, rather than calvary camp, which has a more religious meaning. Interesting finds! :icon_thumright:
