Thanks Lars...Did you notice the corrosion on the top side of the blade (the part that would have been in the bone) is very similar to the corrosion pattern
on your blade. Do you think the part that juts out on my blade helped to secure it in the slot of the bone?

it does not look like trade copper to me but i am not an expert on this stuff

I just assumed it was trade copper. We don't find very much copper on the sites we search (I'm a detectorist also so if it's there we should be finding it.) I can count on one hand how many copper artifacts have been found at our sites.
All but one, a copper culture pick, are made of similar copper to this. This particular knife is thin but very sturdy.
