I've been hoarding copper cents for several years now, sorting by years & keeping the BEST in rolls, the rejects stacked for reselling later. I recently opened up a few of the earlier years (1959 - 1965 that were rolled up in the White w/Red lettering "string & sons" wrappers). Some of the rolls had the Green Patina oxidation effect on the edges. My questions are these: 1) is this green patina coating able to spread to adjacent coins it touches, that it can contaminate the rest of the roll, 2) can & how can this green coating be removed from the coin with little or no effort. Note: these are NOT coins in ExF - AU/BU condition, just good looking, better than average circulation condition. Comments & or suggestions. Tks, DozerD

Yes it can spread. A dip in acetone will stop it from spreading any further.
