Does anyone hold onto copper pennies for melt value? Is it even worth it? Or should i just treat them as zinc pennies and just spend them? I feel stupid for asking.

Some have had success selling them over face value. I've been saving them and have so many I need to start trying to move them.

I have about $600 in copper saved up. I used to sell them for 2x face. I'm just waiting for another chance to sell again. :cat:

I used to get boxes from the bank. That got old real quick! The first two were fun to search. I couldn't image doing boxes a week! I think the oldest I forums was a 1936.

I have been doing 5-6 boxes every 2 weeks. I have $100 in rolled copper ready to sell on eBay, and about $100 ready to be rolled. I am wanting to sell them soon so I can get some of my coin roll hunting funds back to be able to get a nickel box every 2 weeks also.

Was just surfing Ebay for prices on Pre 82 pennies and I don't see anybody getting bids on their bulk pennies.

Just really curious if it really is worth saving any pre 82 pennies?

I was going to split mine up into $20 lots. Then I will see if I can make at least a small profit. I am only doing it to up my funds. I am also wanting to save up for a new metal detector.

Well, I only have a couple dollars in copper saved up compared to your 600.

You might be surprised how fast it builds up. My main interest is silver but I do one cent box every week. Was doing four for a while. Just toss them aside and week after week I build my hoard. I've got a half gallon or so of wheaties and almost a gallon of Canadian copper.

I figured that every $1.50 is one lb and sold it on eBay
