We continued the hunt for more roman coins but only got 15 in 4 hours (8 man hours). Sometimes, finding not many is a good thing, as we now know the limits of the site. Anyway in an area which had nothing, Dad came up smelling of roses. He got our second Celtic Silver Unit for this year.

Its not in Van Arsdell book which immediately tells you its rare. Some describe it as Extremely Rare, but in reality it's Very Rare :headbang:

Dias - 15BC-10AD 'Saltire' Silver Unit - pretty valuable in this condition.

15 roman coins
Poor Hammered Silver - Lizzy Halfgroat
Roman Bronze Child's Bracelet
bits.......

We are on fire right now, & the good news is this field is the first to be harvested in our area, some time next week :icon_thumright: Guess where I'm spending my holiday.

cheers mate, Dad shouted over 'I have another Saxon Silver, I think'. That got my blood pumping, not quite what he thought but still I'm extremely happy with it.

3-4 outings Celtic, Roman, Saxon, Medieval Silver coins. Never had a field like this one & we haven't even done 10% of the productive area.

Sorry guys, the owners a giant & has never let people on before, we are the first. Maybe when he knows us better & when we have cleared the site :laughing7: These are the first finds from his land, up until now we have been blanking. He has tons of land with very little in it.....until now!

I'm glad to say, that this one is more interested in the history. So no cheque book needed, just a few nice items to sacrifice.
