Found this in an old farm field in the area where an Indian village was along a creek. It's not iron I'm thinking either copper or brass. It rang up 37-39 on the nox.
Thanks in advance!

I'm guessing it either copper or brass... It's not magnetic... It's pretty heavy especially for it's size weighs just under 77g

That's what I thought too and where I found it I was thinking it's very possible to be a native piece

pretty tiny for any sort of striking tool, pretty soft too... I would also think the material is too soft for adz blade.

Very likely a copper culture tool IMO. Some have been found in NY and it could have been brought down through trade. A really great find!

My vote is still Great lakes region copper culture. It has been known to make its way even down into northern pa from my understanding.

I'm meeting up with the local Native American Historical Society and their archeologist Friday so they can see it. If it is Indian I plan on donating it to them after I show the farmer

Thanks for the help everyone

Why,???? Are they going to display it so others can enjoy it? All too many times well meant donated artifacts end up in a drawer somewhere never to be enjoyed again. No saying this is the case here but I would have a clear understanding what they plan to do with it and then it would go on Loan.

No? I figured, if it is an Indian item, it would be better at a place like a historical society so others might get to see it than kept in my hands where only I will see it.
