HEY GUYS AND GALS

Haven,t been out much last 3 weeks ....fishing season is keeping me busy and always seems to be something happening when I get a day off.

So we made it out today back to the spot where I found the Cartridge Plate.

There was bear shiat everywhere and the mosquios and black flies were terrible. But we stayed for 2 hours....ED found the Canadian 25 cent silver and I got the coppers and heel plate...also the nice religous pendant was kinda nice.

However.... none of them items points to the time period of the Cartridge Plate... kind of a mystery.

The COB ?? Cousin ED found came from a different site a few days before when he made it out by himself.... we had found a couple buttons and a Spanish 1742 coin in this area a few weeks before.

We have never seen a COB before ..... but is the only thing I could think of it being...or a cut Spanish ?

The intertwined snakes he found close to his house which is old.

That's definitely a clipped 17th century cob. I have a few that are quite irregular in shape like Ed's, and they're fairly common finds down this way. You can see some similar ones that I've dug in the pic below.

Wow --and I can,t even find one .

Great assortment you got there........how far back do they go date wise ?

What an excellent assortment of finds. If only those items could talk. Gets my imagination running wild.

Be a great story I,m sure.....really does make ones mind wonder .

I believe the first cobs were made as early as the 1530s, and continued to the very early 1700s.

I think the earliest one I've dug is from the early 1600s. And I think it's probably worth more than 30 bucks but I hope Ed's not planning on selling it.

no...he definitely not selling it.... he was just curious.

Most people think that coins dated that old are worth a lot of $.

Is there 1500s cobs in North America ?

Since I found 9 hammered coins from the 1500s I'm sure there's some 1500s cobs floating around somewhere. Just have to figure out where they are.

OK..TY...I knew you had found some hammereds from 1500s..seen your posts...pretty amazing finds for North America....I would be so excited to say the least.

Figuring out where is the difficult part indeed.... I am lucky to live near the oldest history in Canada..so guess I have a chance !!

1400s...that doesn,t fit in with the history books of North America.

Wow! That cob is so awesome. I think I would pass out if I found one.
