Went to my favorite creek today to take advantage of the mid sixty degree weather. We had some pretty good rain this weekend so I was hoping the bars would be cleaned of all the mud and leaves. There is a bridge over the creek where I enter it and soon as I got in I found my first point. Literally right when I got in the creek, it was staring at me. Not sure on point type, it seems pretty old to me though. It's 3 inches long and just a great point.
Went a couple sandbars in and found this one. Either the base was broke off or never finished. Not sure which. I think it was a dickson though. Pretty purple color and 2 1/2 inches.
The next sandbar I hit I found my most significant find yet! I discovered that China was here before Columbus and I have pictures to prove it! Needless to say something like that doesn't happen everyday so I will be the first to say it.....BANNER!! The pics say it all!
A few bars up I found a small point that I'm not sure what to type it as. It's 1 3/4, maybe an exhausted hopewell?
Couple more bars up I found this beauty of a hopewell in the water. It's an 1 7/8 and just a nice point.
I walked back to my truck, unloaded the points I had found and then walked up the other way in the creek. When I started out the day I went North from the bridge, so I headed south to finish the day. A few bars in I found this heart breaker. It's 1 1/2 and the orange bullseye is just plane awesome! Not sure on what the type was but I think it might have been a Thebes.
One bar up I found this scraper.
Couple more bars up I found this dickson. It's 2 inches long.
The last point I found was this nice pink point. Unfortunately the base was snapped. It's 2 inches long.
It was a great day and to find this many points on one day is great! Add in the proof of PreColumbian contact and it was a killer day!
