Cru'Dad's latest Intelligence gathering...

The team continues to gather likely targets. Land-mag did his fine job in researching Google Earth & gaining permission. Dad was sent out for a scout after yesterdays Wheat harvesting. Bad conditions for his detector, but we can get a feel for the potential. Spent 2.5 hours all over the ancient looking crop mark & did manage 2 Roman scrappies but they weren't on the main enclosure & were on a less likely spot but still near a weak response. I'm not giving up on this one, its a classic hill spot & I'm sure the conditions are hidding more goodies & at least 2 Roman Coins indicates we are close...

He then moved to our 1st Fav Field (lightly ploughed) for awhile & did very well, with a hammered Lizzy halfgroat Plus a bonus Tudor Buckle. We have really hit this hard over the years so it encourages me to try again in the near future.

Good intel, I can use to start the clean up later

Hi Cru, I'm glad to see Cru'Dad is getting out and about . I've decided to take a leaf from your book and research all my fields properly this time . Now harvest time is here I have between 1500 to 2000 acres at my disposal, way to much to detect by myself, so for the next week and a half I'm going to scour A/P's and all the history books. I am taking 2 weeks holiday soon and intend to hit all the good spots, I might even invite you, Shaun and Colin for a day or so , you never know Cru'Dad might make an appearance

He comes with me or joins me later on most hunts, it just the time during the day whilst I'm working which these posts cover.
You need to PM Land-Mag for short-cuts & best sites for research, most can be done on the internet (some library & archive)

Dad doesn't do group hunts (long journeys), but you can try & ask nicely.
