Not many people liked my new name, so I'm back to plain old Cru'.

Did a group hunt on some of my Fav land today with a couple from the forum. But will let them tell their stories.

We easily did 9 hours today, Cru'Dad only joined us after lunch for a few hours.

Lots of stuff was found.

The medieval hawking swivel still swivels & is my first 8)

I have a hammered which makes no sense at all. The letters are nonsense, I will need the museum to sort this unusual find out :icon_scratch:

We all enjoyed ourselves ;D

UPATED:

THANKS TO ROB I NOW HAVE AN ID FOR THE HAMMERED.
Edward I European imitation.

Thats so funny that you found a NJ coin... lol.. but on one of your pictures, theres a thingy that looks like its a smushed ring, is that right? I love all the stuff you find, I know I have said it many times before, but man, what history your digging into.. I just find all these doo dads and coins and everything else so fascinating.. once you find out what that other coin is, let us know, am dying to know.. again, atta boy Cru.. you rock.

Cheers, Dad found both the brass rings. One would have been enamelled & has an 1883 date.

Cru, that is just so cool.. question for ya..when items are rare that you find and a museum gets it.. do you at least get credit or something for finding it? I am just curious.

Museums only gets it if:
A - I donate it
B - Lend it (which I do in the amatuer museum)
C - It is declared treasure under the Act - ie. Its more than 300 years old & has 10% gold or silver content. Excluding single gold or silver coins.

If its declared Treasure & the Museum wish to have it at the market price (determined by the Valuation Committee) then they have first refusual.

The credit is in being honest enough to record it in the first place & then being recorded as the finder. No-one can take that away from you & the records will be keep for ever?? However, if you mean does your name get put up in lights; then thats down to the media.

Cheers. Hoard (cache) is now no.1 on the wish list (I now believe anything is possible after knocking that Celtic Gold off the top spot). I have found a couple of spread hoards but it would be amazing to get it in its pot ;D

The hammered silver coin is a long cross silver penny. 1300-1500 A.D.

Re: CRUSADER BACK.............with an unidentified hammered!

Also the bottom two hammerd copper coins in the group shot look like German Jetons of HANNS KRAVWINCKEL. Mid to late 1500's

You know our stuff (although I think these ones are slightly later than 1550-1600), nice job  Do you collect, study, or are you a Brit abroad?
