Yes they are. Check smaller Minelab dealers, they are always in contact with guy ready to sell so they can upgrade and the dealer is eager to help someone sell a detector to be able buy a newer one from the dealer. So the dealer is motivated to help.

Found a grand new one with 3 year warranty for $1,400.00. It can be done. Do so me legwork.
