Does anyone know if there are any active licenses for treasure salvage in Cuba at present? What happened to Visa gold deal with Carisub or Geomar I am very interested in thi and will be buying a very substantial vessel.

thanks Capt Herbo Humphreys marexglobal.net
Herbo,
Ed Burtt from Canada used to own Visa Gold. My attorney in Key West. ( Hugh Morgan) contacted me last month and told me that Ed Burtt is looking for investors to put together another Salvage Operation in Cuba. I do know that Ed Burtt obtained his Research on the Spanish Wrecks in Cuba from Jack Haskins many years ago.

Let me know if you need Ed Burtt's phone number. If you don't have it, I can PM it to you.

I worked for Carisub several years (1990-1992) and Ramal-Geomar (1997-1999). In Cuba there are many good wrecks.

Cuba signed the UNESCO Convention but Carisub and Ramal-Geomar are actively excavating Spanish shipwrecks. Cuba does not recognize Spain's soverign rights.
