I was hunting an old Texas (1830's)Ghost town today and dug a slice (about a 1/3) of an early seated Quarter. It's hard to tell in the picture but the coin appears to have been cut by a tool. I was told on another foum by respected hunter that he has seen cut seated coinage before. I know that Silver dollars were cut in to bits and reales also but have never seen a 1800's quarter cut before.
Whats your opinion, is it cut for change or someother fate.
The buttons were found close by, One has old steam locomotive on it.
Thanks for looking
