Got out for a short hunt today before the rain hit.1 shot 69 cal three ringer,3 shot round
ball,1 spencer carbine and one shot bullet in 4 pieces. Also a small piece it looks to be made
out of brass or copper with the Lord's Prayer on it.It is bent a little bit I don't know if it went
on something like that or it is just bent. The back is plain and has no writing on it at all,no holes
in it where it was attached to anything. If anybody has an idea about that piece please let
me know.Thanks in advance.

Yeah, its a smashed penny from a machine. My kids go crazy over these things - I must have spent $40 at Disneyland a few weeks ago smashing pennies with all sorts of different characters on them. Pretty stupid really - spending 51 cents to get a smashed penny :-\

Oh well, it makes the kiddies happy :D

How far back does these machines that smashes pennies go. This old house site goes back
to the late 1800's.I would say that this item isn't that old but I would say it is pretty old.

That was my question too. :icon_scratch: I hunted an old place several months ago and it dated back to the late 1800's. I found one just like yours there.

Awesome finds, Fort!

The lords prayer on the copper or brass. I have found several myself and have always found them while recovering civil war artifacts. Always wondered if they were used during that era or has anyone else besides us found them along with CW stuff.
Nice hunt and thanks for sharing.

I think that it is neat how so many words can fit on a small piece of copper.
