Anyone ever had their meter go whacky? I had it out today and all of a sudden the needle wont go past zinc/salt reading nor will the depth swing past 4". I continued using it for an hour like this.
Then went home.
Now, I could swear I just turned it on at home and it is IDing clad and copper where it should be (needle is swinging far right) and the depth is showing up at 2" for shallow objects (where it should be).

Not like I can reboot this thing. :dontknow:

I had an issue with sand getting in the unit. It enters in the headphone jack very easy. I would pull the batteries check to see if any sand
is in the unit. If you do not feel good about doing this, you only have a couple of options. Send it to Fisher or Nasa Tom.

good luck

Never delt with Fisher, but just got mine back from Tom. Disc is more accurate and picked up a couple inches of depth. Quick turn around too, sent it on Wed, had it back on Monday, can't beat that.

Detector(s) used
what ever works
Tom D has stated he does not repair machines [ does not carry parts ]
He does not promise more depth either.
He does however calibrate it two its best running capability possable.
He does it in short time and keeps you informed thru the process .

Well, I wouldnt send my detector to a guy who cant perform warranty service. But, ty for the advice.
Actually, it was built up soil in and around the coil cover.
Works fine now. :icon_thumleft:
