I ran across this Lincoln cent quite awhile back and had just set it off to the side and forgot about it. I recently ran across it again and thought I'd post it here to see just what is wrong with this coin. I'm guessing damaged but who knows. Maybe it is error. Thanks for any input.

Sure does seem like metal surface to me. Interesting Can't get the stuff to come off but if I try to scratch it it just looks like metal. Thanks.

Could be something like JB weld, that stuff is as tough as metal. Definitely some kind of foreign material though.

Maybe solder. I knew several radiator shops the used it as an I.D. logo on their repair jobs.
