Does anyone know about a Darnell(0r Dar-nell) treasure locator?

I saw a picture years ago, he was holding a pistol type electronic locator in his hand and it seemed to have a special antenna attached to the front. I can't seem to find a picture of it. I thought he was trying to patent it.

I recall seeing advertisements of the rod. They were hugely expensive, like $4500 or something. Bob Fitzgerald made a copy he sells called the PPL.

The last I saw of a Dar-nel ad was in the back of a 1978 Kellyco catalog.

Don made a great many different models, some more expensive than others. Some were one-of-a-kind prototypes and never made it to the retail market place; and are today collector's items.

Last I checked the PPL is only about $1200 plus the $40 shipping. It works just like the original Darnell rods; that is you will get the same results from a bent piece of scrap wire. :)
