I had a day off after six days straight working and got up early because I didn't want to waste single minute. Decided to hit a few spots near my own neighborhood so I don't get too worn out before heading to work again the following day.
Dug around some old oak trees and came up with some interesting pieces. One looks like it was poured into a mold (the star metal hinge looking one) and is very heavy for it's size. Then I tried the other side of the same tree and came up with the ornate flower compact piece. No idea on what that is about but I liked it. Better than finding bottle caps and pop tabs!
All sorts of odds and ends today - letter opener shaped like a sword, keys, tokens and even a wristwatch! My heart was pumping when I dug up the rings but they turned out to be just some dime store junk. Still very fun to find! LOL! The strangest things come out of the ground! Especially in parks that were built over old neighborhoods. I'm planning on going back to that one this weekend as I only made a small dent in it today. My daughter is going to be staying with me in a week and I am going to try to introduce her to this wonderful hobby. Thinking of working it out where we both get to have out own days. She gets to do what she wants to do on HER day and I get to do my detecting on MINE. That way we both end up happy. (I'm sure she will want to go to the mall or something but she does like to be outside, so it will be a good time all around. Pack a lunch and make a day out of it.)
Okay. I'm starting to ramble here. Time to put the photos to this post and shut up.
Thanks for looking at my newbie digs!
