Decent George 3 after 245 years

After taking a summer hiatus for the heat, bugs and ticks I made it back to a fresh cut corn field and quickly dug a 1826 large cent. I thought it was going to be a productive morning but after a few hours with nothing but broken plow parts my buddy George and I were making a final sweep toward the truck when I hit a solid 77. Down about 3 inches was a decent George 3 dated 1775. Not bad for 245 years old. We now have the bug back.

After pulling the coin out of the oil and cleaning it up the date reads 1826 and I mistakenly called it a half cent instead of a large cent. I have edited the original post. That's my best day in that particular field. I'd like to find some early history on it, maybe the militia mustered on it.

I'm told it was a vegetable field so there were lots of laborers in it compared to a corn field or pasture. I got a beautiful Highland Cadets button (Worcester military academy in the 1850's) from that field and some other cool stuff, but I've hit every row twice by now and it's really slowing down. I didn't get it all though!

Nice looking coin. Full date which is always nice even if it is a counterfeit that was made in the 1790s LOL

Counterfeit is better terminology than my 'imitation', used to using it when referring to locally issued barbarous Roman Coins.

If the OP weighs it he will get the positive attribution, although he may not care?
