Interesting Bullet

I dug this after work this afternoon in Southport, NC. It appears to be an .55 Enfield. From what I can deduce from pictures it looks to have been fired with the ramrod still in the barrel. Has anyone seen this before? I also dug a splattered round ball a few yards from this one.

The soldier could of been loading but the other guy was getting to close and he let loose:laughing9:Maybe a drop and get the flock out.

Sput - first, welcome to the forum! We've seen overly enthusiastic loading result in bullets that look much like yours. I'll admit, yours is at the EDGE of that scenario. To me (just my opinion) it looks too shallow for a ramrod fire. Those are usually splayed out to the point that the "outer" edge of the ring actually bends backward over itself. Again, though - yours, if it is just hard pounding during loading - is about the deepest indent I've ever run across. You might get a lot of varied opinions on this one!
