As a relic hunter I'm always looking to get my hands on the deepest seeking machine I can. My reasoning has always been that the older machines (late 70s to early 90s) wouldn't have had the depth capability we have now so it should be possible to keep picking up finds in areas deemed hunted out, if I'm using latest and greatest technology. What has your experience been? What's the deepest you've managed to find your relics?

I found a horseshoe at about 12 inches with the Ace 250. Haven't had the time to play with the F75.

12# solid shot in hot ground at length of entire arm - Minelab Sov XS I'd take the Nautilus for depth in good soil, maybe 10 -12" on bullets with 10" coil. All depends on soil conditions, operator, machine

My Minelab SE shoots deep enough for me. In certain parts of Virginia I find 3-ringers in 12-15" of clay with a large elliptical Excalibur coil (pinpointing sucks). In the summer, it is like breaking through concrete! Once that signal is out of the ground though...life is good! Of course, we find bigger metal deeper. I wasted a couple hours only to dig a fire extinguisher at over 2 feet. Yeah...I was cussing up a storm. I hate trash, but especially that big.

Good Luck!! HH!!

I found this colonial coat button which dates to the 1700s day before yesterday and it was down almost 2 feet. Using my Minelab Quattro also found a 1848 Large Cent but it was not that deep

I would have to say that David had an impressive find at almost 2 feet. That Quatro has some power to pick a button up at that depth. The best I have done is 8" with a button with my DFX and it was one of those sounds that only headphones can hear and it was not consistant. Something said dig and I am glad I did. Nothing special, but a button is a button. Maybe when I start tweeking the DFX, I will do a little better, I have just been playing with the preset programs so far. Happy hunting
