When most lakes came in they took land and home sites from a lot of people. There are several home sites around lake areas especially when the lake is low...look for old broken dishes, bricks or anything that may look like signs of activity from the past....a boat would be an asset...Also swimming areas can produce...

Just cover as much shoreline as you can cover. Bring plenty of bags for trash, and wear boots and gloves cause it can be mighty muddy sometimes with sewage mixed in. I've had great luck finding old coins, tokens and a few rings searching shorelines during drought periods.

Panner - Once you get into water hunting, your land hunting days will become limited. There is soooooo much in the water...Shhhhh, don't tell anyone else.

Man, I sure hope this is true! I just bought an AT Pro for this exact reason.

Probably 98% of the people that metal detect do so on land only, the wading folks find a lot, the divers find the most, that's the way I know it from talking to people over the years..too bad I am scared of water to the point of panic just from looking at water.
