Hi all, got out again here today after work. Been trying to catch up for the time I lost this year due to I was busy. Hunted for about 2 hrs or so today. Nothing fantastic mostly new stuff. One wheat penny a keneddy half a sex token and a cool sear's co. token comemerating there 100 yrs in operation. 1886 to 1986. The ring was found on the surface. It didn't check out to be silver but it is a nice looking ring.

Nothing else worth mentioning. Just wanted to share it with you guys.

Good Luck Jeremy

Hi, I am very new to this and no clue at what I am doing. We have a GTI 2500 and it seems to not really pin point like I thought it would. I can get a signal in an area and it seems that I could dig in an area of any where from one to two foot and still not find what it is indicating. Is that normal? What kind do you use and how big of an area do you have to dig when yours signals you? Am I expecting to much?

Hi Di!

Well here's the scoop: when pinpointing with YOUR detector the target is derectly in the center of the coil where the circle is. Use a cross pattern to determine the exact location of the target. Make sure to check the depth too. I only have to make a 2 inch wide plug to recover my target and that's all you really need. It's good to practice in a field to get better at pinpointing before you detect private property so you don't destroy yards. If you watch the instuctional video it shows you a bit aboutd pinpointing techneques. And by the way if your at a modern feild chances are all the targets won't be more than 2-3 inches deep so don't go spending ten minutes digging.

Once you learn how to use it the 2500 will find you some good stuff.

Good luck and HH!

Matt

Thanks guys. The thing under the key is a penn pilsner brewery bottle opener. I think the sex tokens come from the porn shop 25 cent I can't get a women spots. There was one near by.

My detector with alot of (experience). I can pinpoint stuff in a 4 X 4 inch square plug and it's there 90% of the time. But I have always thought that white's top end models had very good pinpointing from out of the box.

Garretts are know to have coils go bad on them. I have no personal experience with garretts. It just seems that were I have been I have heard alot of other people saying there coils weren't good.

It could just be your not familar with the unit. I bet that is the case. But for a high end model if it doesn't get better I would say something is wrong.

Ya Jer your right about being the case about the coils. Although when they break it's usually just the internal wire that broke and therfore not sending a signal to the housing (happened to mine once). Mike I don't use the GTI 2500, but I do use the GTI 1500 which is almost the same thing. The GTI's are great machines though. I'll give you a link to my website when it's done.

Although with the money you spent on the 2500, you should have gotten a DFX. DFX's get better depths than Garretts do, but not that much more. Don't worry about the machine your using cause it gets the job done. Just learn how to use it really well before you hit any old sites to find older stuff.

Just curious, do you have the 12.5 inch coil or are you using the stock coil?
