Excaliber, the goldbug 2 and the other goldbug detectors are good for finding gold, even tiny tiny pieces but they have serious lack of depth issues. They don't go deep at all. They are a very shallow in their ability to find gold. Don't waste your money on it. You want a detector that is going to find the gold shallow and deep of all sizes. If buying a high dollar minelab super detector is a financial problem, don't fear as minelab has the x-terra 705 and eureka gold detectors which are both VLF detectors and both can out hunt the gold bugs and whites and garretts hands down.I have numerous friends that have used whites and garretts and goldbugs and all of them have sold them and bought the eureka gold. I was going to buy the eureka gold and did some research with minelab and ended up buying the X-terra 705 because it was able to detect the tiny gold that the goldbugs and eureka gold can but it can detect it deeper. You can also coin hunt with it in coin mode and it can keep up with minelabs best coin machines. In prospecting mode you have a very good arsonal of features that are needed to eliminate unwanted hot rocks and identify iron trash without worrying that you may be missing a nugget. Minelab packed the 705 with cutting edge technology that is superior to all the others. I bought my 705 for $998.00 and that included the detector with the 9"concentric medium freq., coil and the 5x10 eliptical gold coil Double D High freq., which is absolutely awsome on gold nuggets down to sust under one grain in weight, which is as tiny as what the goldbug and eueka can find and find it deeper. I also bought included in the price stated a 6" DD High freq., DD coil for hitting tiny pieces of gold at depth in bedrock cracks. You can get the gold pro pack for less than I paid less the 6" coil thru Arizona Outback 1-928-777-0267. His name is Chris Ghulson. He is an autherized minelab dealership and will bend over backwards to help you out. It also comes with a detector bag. Ask for headphones. Attached are pics of gold and sivler found with my 705.
