This appears to have been a well organized test.

Looks like someone was trying to promote Minelabs. Interesting how some of the Minelabs were in bold font even though some of the unbolded brands above had even better depth. :icon_scratch:
Also, some serious contenders to the Minelabs (for some reason) were left out of the study. Anyways, we have newer, better detectors to choose from now, so this study is fairly obsolete.

Yeah, that guy was really pushing his Minelab sales. There is another nut in GB who was doing the same, but at least he did say that all he did was turn the detectors on to preset and go from there. The one above though, did say that he DID NOT do the "testing", that someone else did.

What most people don't realize, is that one detector will work better in one soil while another will work worse, and then that all changes when they hunt in still other soils.

Here is a site that at least is halfway truthful and accurate, but still we need to recognize that it is done in Poland, not England, Arizona, or Seattle, etc. Someone should post this permanently on this site for all to easily see, for those poor souls who have not done the exhaustive research that a few of we old-timers have done, and know is truthful. The other site I mentioned is so ridiculous that I would feel irresponsible even posting it on here, so I won't.
Here is a better site:

The one immediately above is at least factual, actual, and not done by third-party - or written merely to sell a high priced piece of junk so as to make a big profit on it..

Here is another one that is done by one of the most respected group of detector officionados found in the world. This one will SHOCK a few people and shut the big traps of those who have made some very ridiculous clams about their favortite brand of metal detector too.

This last site was the first of two certain depth tests done by Garys. The one that followed it showed that the only detector they tried of all of them that could find the coin buried at 10" was a Tesoro Tejon with an 8X10 factory coil, and it barely did it. NOT ONE of the other detectors save for the Nexus could find a dime-sized coin at 10" in weak, wussie soil. I used to have the follow-up Garys post but have since lost it due to a recent security attack on my computer.

Enjoy
