Well, I'm sitting here beside a brook in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with my trusty Deus and my equally trusty Equinox 800. Decided to take a break and post something of interest that I just discovered. Surprised I have a signal at all up here, tbh.

It seems that the Deus with the elliptical coil, running 81kHz on v4.1, is finding tiny little flakes that the Equinox can't even touch in Gold 1. Haven't tried Gold 2 yet. Furthermore, my buddy has his Gold Bug 2 and I'm finding smaller flakes than he is.

Here are my Deus settings:

Ground Balance: Tracking
Sens: 95
Freq: 80.8
React: 0
Disc IAR: 5
Threshold: 0
Audio Resp: 4

The smallest nugget my buddy found with the GB2 is maybe 1/20th of a gram. I just found a flake not even half that size and it was coming in loud and clear. Not saying the Deus can outdo the GB2, but so far today it is. And also, not saying it can outdo the Equinox, but so far it seems to be. Can't wait for the 6" coil for the Equinox.

I’ve noticed theDeus will get smaller targets also. I think the equinox coil is too big. Might need the six inch coil out soon about another $180 but it’s an unknown element.

Yeah, I will be buying the 6" coil for the Equinox.

Ok, so we're back home now. Spent maybe five hours up there in all. One thing I have to say - I got my ass handed to me by the Gold Bug 2. After my original post, my buddy decided to turn up the heat a little. I was still finding some nice little flakes, but my buddy was absolutely tearing it up with his little speck-sized pieces of gold. Made me look like a fool, lol. I gotta admit, the GB2 is a beast.

Now for the ultimate showdown between the Deus and the Equinox, with 6" coil, of course...

Oh, also, we hit this one spot of bedrock. It was all reddish-brown and bleeding rust all over the place. Iron content was through the roof. Yeah, we had to give that one up. Both the Deus and the GB2 went absolutely bananas. Nothing we did seemed to help. So we went back to more pleasant ground.

Deus...pfffft! Old news.

Gotta go over a field many times in each frequency to cover it.

Equinox = BOOM...multi baby...yeah!

Plus Deus high frequency coil = ridiculous $£$£$£$£!

Matt.

So I got a GW button, two Confederate buckles, four colonial silver, a dozen or more colonial coppers, 50 or more pieces of silver, 2 gold coins, 6 Confederate buttons and a boat load of gold jewelry with my Deus. How you doing?

Well...i take my Equinox into the sea...how YOU doing...roflol!

Matt.

Just stupid gold and ice rings, silver, junk jewelry, clad, that's three quarts of clad, a couple whole bottles. Another ho hum day in paradise. I don't do beaches so much anymore during this summer. Don't like the heat. I have the $25 underwater adapter for the Deus. Works just fine.

Yeah, they each have their place. I was referring to gold prospecting in the original post. Gonna try the Equinox again when I get the 6" coil.

I think you will do better with the 6" coil. Or a goldbug! I've never tried one of them.

I have a Gold Bug 2 arriving this Friday.

Put it this way, if you can see it, the GB2 will detect it.

Now I want one! The gold here is basically too small to see.

Well from what I saw yesterday, if there's gold there of any size, it'll find it.

Ok, how much is a gold bug 2?

Also, here's the biggest gold from my creek? Think the GB would find it? It's TINY. That is a 2" x 3" zippie bag.

And yes, it would find that, no problem at all. If you can see it, it'll find it. It finds this stuff with no problem. 20180617_031842.jpeg

Jeez...something to think about. Most of the gold from the creek is microscopic and the gold spiral wheel is the only thing that actually sees it.

Now that's something I'd like to try out - the gold spiral wheel. It gets the ultra fines?
