Deward Michigan

I would really love help with this! I am looking for any information, pictures, gps coordinates, maps, history on the ghost town of Deward Michigan. My family recently purchased a cottage in Grayling and we have tried several times to located Deward. Any help would be great!

I have not personally explored the area but,,, it is somewhere between mancelona rd and the Crawford co. border- close to the banks of the manistee river. There is a state forest named Deward in which the old town existed. If I were you, and you are serious about finding the site, I would try to find an old "topo map" from around 1900 of the nearest larger city to show exactly where it was/is.

There is nothing left of the town/site except BIG stumps in the woods and some old foundations. I know there is/was signs posted at one time indicating the site/town, and stating motor vehicals are not permitted except on main roads marked for use.

Driving around the area might help in finding it IF you can find the posted signs, and or you see the BIG stumps.
