Hey nice finds AA, hope you don't dig a hole like that in someones yard. I could sell you a really nice trowel.

Really if you use a trowel and dig a hole in the shape of a horseshoe, flip the sod back and then look
for the target, it will leave the area you dug looking a whole lot better. I sometimes use a plastic bag
to put the soil on. Then once you have found the target, you just pour the soil back into the hole, flip the
sod back over and step on it. Just a suggestion.

P.S.
I also use the digger your using, but usually after I have dug my horseshoe plug and I use a SunRay probe.

this area hasnt been used for about sixty years and i do fill in the holes. After a good rain you cant even tell i was out there

Sorry about all the guff I gave you. In an area like that I'd use a shovel. LOL But usually when I dig
anywhere else I use a stainless steel trowel.
