My first detector is a Tesoro Compadre. Love it. I have had it for four years and it is still great.

My first was Bounty Hunter Wal-Mart cheapie. I used it for a year before I upgraded and gave the BH to a neighbor's son because he was always pestering me to take him hunting.

Don't you love when you can pull off something like this? I bought a '95 Mustang in 2003 for $2300, drove it for 3 years and put about 10,000 miles on it. Made very few improvements beyond regular maintenance, and sold it in 2006 for $3000. ;D ;D

Same here, Tom. About ten years ago, when I was moving, I gave mine to a cousin to keep for me. Unfortunately, not long after that he passed away, and his inlaws seized everything. It was a well-worn old TR, but my father had given it to me (new) as a birthday present, and I was very sorry to lose it.

White's Coinmaster 3000. Yep...still got it....bought new around 1980-82?? Dont remember exactly.

The ground balance don't work so well in it...don't know why I keep it....got 3 detectors better than it.

Maybe I'll hang it on the wall like a trophy fish. :icon_jokercolor:

My first detector was a Jetco, a worthless piece of junk You had to continuously adjust the tone as it would rise in pitch. It's gone but I still have my 2nd which is a Garrett Mini-Hunter that I purchased in 1973 and it still works.

My very first one? No. It was a White's Coinmaster 1 that I bought slightly used from a rockhound shop in the mid-70's when I was around 15 ($100). I traded it in on a new Coinmaster 4 Disc.($250) , then traded that on a new Coinmaster 5 Disc.($400) which I do still have.

Today you can pick up early Coinmasters for nothing on Ebay :)

Yes. D-Tex professional by Bill Mahan. Still works after 40 plus years. After Bill died, his son started the Gold Mountain line. Still have one of those on loan to my grandson.
