I am thinking of sending this off to get it repaired and want to know if these are rare I have never seen a lobed piece like this

I don't but sure wouldn't mind finding one. Looks like a Big Sandy....could be something else for all I know

I believe it is a Big Sandy with lobed ears. It is thick unlike most big sandy points. I have never seen one like it complete and have never found a broken piece of one. Do you have any?

Ditto here, never seen one like that. Are the "lobes" ground?

The lobes are ground and it looks like a chip was taken up the middle like a fluted point

We call that a "mickey mouse ear" Big Sandy. I have one out of over 100 Big Sandy points. Restoration is a personal decision. I like to keep mine as is.
Are the side notches ground?
