Does Anyone Know Anything About Dedrick, CA in Trinity NF?

Hi- have been reading the history of Trinity County mining and would like to know if anyone has info on the ghost town of Dedrick. It was out of Junction City on Canyon Creek. Any replies are appreciated. Thank you. Steve

Dedrick- None of the towns commercial buildings of this area that was settled in the 1890s are standing today. Located ajacent to the upper part of Canyon Creek, the area was aparently widely known for the "dance halls" and other adult recreational spots. Today, the area is a favorite for the fishing and the hiking trails. There continues to be mining activity in some parts of the area year around.

Thanks so much for replying. We are going to try and find the foundations of the old bars and hotel and do a little detecting. Have heard that you have to look real hard to see the foundations.

Don’t know if this helps, but it’s an enlargement from the “Official Map of Trinity County, CA” compiled from government and local surveys, published by the H.S. Crocker Company in 1894.

If you can find a higher resolution copy, or find a library that has the original map, it might reveal more detail about the areas where there were buildings.
