Does one drop end a drought?

I went to a park that I know for a fact has been hit VERY hard for a VERY
many years. (...and I expected to find something!?!?! LOL )

But, be that as it may, this is the first plug I opened for the day:



Isn't it so nice? When they drop out of the pocket, all at once?
When I saw that I said, "Now couldn't they have kept the ring in the same pocket!!!? "

Remember I said that for it came back to bite me later on.
I've always said it ought to be a law for these kids to have to keep their engagement
rings in the same pocket that has their pennies!! LOL

Anyway, they're all clad.

Which pretty much set the tone for the day. But, considering where I was, I really couldn't
expect much more.




This piece is kind of odd. That's a papery, sort of something
that's screwed to a rather large piece of lead!



I haven't a clue but, once more, I had something "interesting". LOL

So, after a rather long "walk" I decided to turn for home and make my last
finds "on the way back to the car".

I said, "Lord? If I don't already have my exit find for the day, I sure
could use one."

Now, I pretty much say that every hunt as I wind up. It's never a demand and if I
don't find a single thing more, I'm still pretty happy with the day.

Anyhoo, I took maybe 3 steps and got a solid nickel hit. Repeatable, not very deep. Pretty
easy to call my shot. And that was exactly what it was, the thing is, right next to that nickel
I dug another exact same hit. Figuring this was the pocket for nickels.

This is what I saw:




BINGO!


Not sure if the marking before the 14k is a jeweler's mark or something to do
with the content.

Remember what I said about pockets? LOL

So, anyway, if 1 drop can end a drought, it's officially ended.



Also! When I bring home a new bling, I get to sleep indoors. BUT,
when I bring home GOLD! I have an entire month pass!

Sorry for the length, but gold will do that to me.

I don't really know, Dave. This place is a wide open, sports park like area. So, it does get replenished a bit. It's also on some very old ground so there's an occasional surprise. What's probably happening is that since they can't expect too much in the way of "old", the pickers move on. Which is absolutely fine by me! It's sort of like that place we went to, even though it was very well hunted, I came away with plenty of clad.

The ring really came out of that plug VERY shiny! In fact, I thought it was silver until I saw the stamp and tested. I wonder if those other markings mean it's coated somehow to keep it that shiny?

Anyway, thanks! Know of any other hunted out places I can try?

Waytago Whadifind! The subtle difference in tone that the ATPro gives which distinguishes the small gold ring and the modern nickle...50-52 range usually. I have found that the ATPro gives a slight "double chirp" on rings and a solid tone on coins, with a little "halo" on slaw and pull tabs. But, CONGRATULATIONS on a gold ring, my good man. It has been a few months since I last experienced the euphoria of sun colors dancing in the hole...Sub

Thanks Subby! Here's one more you can try the next time you get a nickel signal. When you swing over it, notice the loudness of the tone. Listen so you know how loud it is, then, when you swing over it to pinpoint, see if the loudness doesn't go up if it's a nickel and stay about the same if not.
