I tried the lazy man way, once. ;D
only dug enough to open the door.
The dog went back and forth, back and forth... for days and days.
We ended up with narrow canyons about 4-5ft deep... it was crazy!

The next year, snowplows put a 10ft high berm across the front of my parking area! Jerks!
I had to borrow a backhoe from a friend to dig an access through it.

We got the last laugh, though.
The road went up a hill.
and the camber was high on my side, down to the opposite.
For WEEKS the overnite freeze made a solid sheet of ice from the daytime melt and we had bumber cars to watch, first thing every morning!

Have fun and enjoy it...
