I hit several schoolyards Friday and Saturday, in my incessant quest for goodies. Surprisingly, there were a few pieces of sterling that came out to play. I dug a dainty earring marked .925, with all of its adornments, that was 7-8" down and rang up a 62 VDI on the AT Max.

I also dug an 18" long, intact sterling necklace, marked "Italy/ .925" at 4" down. It rang up a 51 VDI, (nickle signal) as it was wadded up in the plug.

The rest of the finds included kiddie rings, bling, widgets, buttons, and uniform items. Lots of fun to dig and the variety really keeps me interested.

I wish a Happy Easter to all of my TNet friends. Happy Hunting. Sub 8-)

That silver earring is a sweet find, especially from that depth! :occasion14:
I'm also amazed it was so deep, maybe the field had been topped with soil and reseeded at some point?

Every time I dig a nickel signal at a school, it's the aluminum from a pencil eraser. :BangHead: I dug 11 of them the other day in about an hour. Not a single nickel.

wow, how to you avoid all the trash?

1715 and MKW,

Like other public lawn hunters, I have to endure and work through the "bane of my hobby," I.E., aluminum trash, to find the good stuff. Untold numbers of pull tabs, beaver tails, pencil eraser tips, and can slaw go into the trash for every piece of nice jewelry I find. It is a numbers game, and I choose to do the work and take chances on iffy signals. I don't post photos of the trash. Cheers. Sub 8-)
