Did some research on a old town 75 miles away. Woke up at 4am was there for 6am and netted $3.08 and a junko. It looked like a perfect situation on google maps, but when I got there I realized that they laid shells and clay down 5โ€ down. All clad. One of those days. IMG_1727.JPG

I can't quit,, I can stop for a day, because it's raining,, or a month, because everything is frozen,, but I can't quit. It's an addiction that is much bigger than me.
Good luck tomorrow buddy.

Hey Truth, sometimes you just gotta drive to other areas. Back in 2014 I hit every Park on maps from the 1870's in a 40 to 50 mile radius of my house. I drove so much that I went through an extra tank of gas every two weeks. You just never know what's out there unless you swing your coil over it. Heck I drive 20 hours round trip to hunt with my buddies on Long Island NY. And no I do not dig enough to cover the gas, but the memories are priceless and the chance of digging some real old stuff makes it worth it.

Still beats not getting out, heck that's what most of us live for in this crazy hobby finding the keeper.
Buddy says to me one time after having a real brain sucking day out in the fields in England " I just figured it out it costs me a $1.00 a minute to detect over here." Lol

I've been to the same park 8 times, 232 clad, and haven't cleared $15. Guess as they say, you have to remove the junk before you get to the good stuff.

Look at it this way, it would have drove you nuts not to go there and dig, right?

Thanks for your post. I've been fooled by "logical" research and google maps plenty! Through work I learned about an old house that had just been torn down; it was at the intersection of a pre-civil war road and and a similar railroad track. Went there and found out those folks were poor as hell; lemme tell you they didn't lose anything! ha

When you say 'shells and clay' what exactly does that mean? I'm curious because I kept finding broken clam shells in the dirt/clay at the 1670's farmhouse I hunted all summer.

I have driven further for less!

I only get the chance to hunt two days a week, because I have to work. Any time that I can get out and hunt is a good time for me. But I know what you mean, it can be a little discouraging sometimes.

Maybe take a couple of days off, that often gets me pumped back up.

GL brother!

I hear you. I had a bit of a clunker myself yesterday, $1.50, 2 wheats and a 1938 buffalo. At least you don't have to wonder "what if?" anymore!
